There are certain places on earth that pull you out of your daily routine and force you to look at your life’s work from a completely fresh perspective. For me, that last place was Sedona.
On our latest journey, we found ourselves backtracking and revisiting a breathtaking canyon heritage site we had camped near once before on a past motorcycle trip. Standing there, surrounded by towering red rocks & ancient architecture, you can’t help but think about legacy. You think about what it means to build something permanent with your hands.
Fueled by that grounding energy, we drove up the winding mountain switchbacks into Jerome, Arizona. If you’ve never been, Jerome is a vertical, historic mining town carved straight into the cliffside. It is packed with ghosts, artists, and pure creative rebellion.
And it was there, walking into a tiny, sunlit general store connected to a beautiful, historic 12-room building, that my entire business future crystallized.
While exploring, I wandered into the workspace of a local ceramic artist. His setup was the ultimate dream: he had his raw production studio completely wide open in the back, dust flying, wheels turning, working exactly when and how he wanted. Right out front, facing the historic street, was his pristine, gorgeous retail gallery displaying his finished pieces to travelers from all over the world.
It was human. It was authentic. It was completely un-corporate.
Seeing him work in that beautiful, creative sanctuary rewired my brain. I realized that is the exact blueprint I am building for my future. A vibrant creative hub with workshops and the jewelry studio humming on the ground floor, a lush garden growing out on the porch, and maybe a future cozy Airbnb space resting right above it.
I immediately wanted to bring that rustic, curated Southwest gallery aesthetic back home with me to Oceanside.
Inspired by the beautiful galleries and jewelers, when I got back, I hunted down my own stunning, chic wood table. It has that perfect historic, earthy character that feels like it was made to hold my jewelry.
I gave it a prime home right at the front end of my space under a mirror. It has completely transformed the energy of the room, acting as the ultimate "front-end gallery" launchpad for my newest jewelry designs.
Displayed on the table are the newest pieces fresh off my bench—heavy, textured custom silver, holding stones that feel directly birthed by the desert, like warm, sandstone and earthy agates.
Every time I look at this display table, it reminds me that travel isn't a distraction from my business; it is the absolute lifeblood of it. We are building stability so we can have total freedom to create, ride, and design our own spaces.
